How can I obtain the latest version of ShopStream Connect?

The full installation of ShopStream Connect™ is available from the Snap-on Diagnostic Solutions website; click here and follow the on-screen links to get to the ShopStream Connect™ download page. If you already have a version of ShopStream Connect™ installed, the automatic update feature will notify you when a new version is available, and guides you through the the update procedure.

Can ShopStream Connect operate on a machine with PCLink for ETHOS™ or PCLink version 3.x installed?

ShopStream Connect™ supercedes the PCLink for ETHOS™ and PCLink 3.x products and as such these products do not need to co-exist. If you wish to install ShopStream Connect™, it is recommended that you uninstall previous versions of these other products first. However, please note that while PCLink for ETHOS™ must be uninstalled prior to installing ShopStream Connect™, this is not the case with PCLink 3.x, which may reside side-by-side with ShopStream Connect™.

Are all the latest file types from MODIS™/SOLUS™/VantagePRO™ supported in the ShopStream Connect™ viewers?

The majority of file formats are supported in ShopStream Connect™, but some changes made in later bundles releases are not currently supported in ShopStream Connect™. Please check regularly for updates, and download any new updates when they are available.

I previously used PCLink 3.x to communicate with my MODIS Liberator tool, is this supported in ShopStream Connect™?

While PCLink 3.x used a wireless ethernet connection to communicate with MODIS Liberator, this mechanism proved difficult for some users. ShopStream Connect™ uses a simple and reliable USB connection to communicate with the Snap-on diagnostic tools. However, MODIS Liberator does not have an USB connection so you cannot communicate directly with MODIS Liberator using ShopStream Connect™. However, there is an indirect approach that will work, which uses an USB card reader as an intermediary. Please consult the ShopStream Connect™ documentation for more information on how this operates.

MODIS Liberator users with PCLink 3.x installed may, of course continue to use that application.

I am a PCLink 3.x / PCLink for ETHOS™ user, how can I access my old data files in ShopStream Connect™?

By default, data files in PCLink 3.x and PCLink for ETHOS™ were stored in the "C:\Fast-Track\My Data" folder. In ShopStream Connect™ version 7.2.12.0, you can navigate to this directory in the tree on the left-hand side, and your files will be visible in the Data list. In ShopStream Connect™ updated version 7.2.16.0, a shortcut has been added to the ShopStream data folder called "PCLink Data" which provides easier access to this folder.

Why do I need the .NET 2.0 Framework to be installed on my PC?

The ShopStream Connect™ application was developed using the latest available software components from Microsoft, and because of this it is necessary to have the Microsoft .NET 2.0 framework installed on your PC to run ShopStream Connect™. Many other new applications will also require this framework, and it can be installed over previous versions (e.g. 1.0 and 1.1).

The ShopStream Connect™ installation automatically detects if this version of the framework is installed on your PC, and if not will request that you install it before it can proceed. The Microsoft .NET framework version 2.0 can be downloaded from the Microsoft download site here.

Further explanations and detail on the .NET Framework can be found here.

Known Issues in Release 7.2.12.0

  • Emailed Snap-on files: Files sent via email from ShopStream Connect do not launch correctly from Microsoft Outlook. Workaround: Save the file to disk and then open it in ShopStream Connect. If it is a Scanner movie file, it can be opened directly from Windows Explorer by double-clicking it.
  • Scanner Data Viewer: when rearranging graph layout in by dragging and dropping, it is necessary to drag the body of the graph you wish to drag, not the title bar.
  • Labscope Viewer: MODIS Ignition Scope files - Firing peaks are not displayed for all cylinders when sweep is 10ms.
  • Labscope Viewer: MODIS Ignition Scope files with the kV scales (2, 3, 30 kV) first introduced in Software Bundle 6.2 do not load correctly. "0/div" will be displayed in the channel status area near the top of the viewer display area when a file using one of these scales is loaded.
  • Labscope Viewer: MODIS Ignition Scope files: It is not possible to change the current sweep mode (e.g. Parade to Raster) in the viewer.
  • Labscope Viewer: Some .MMS (Multimeter screen shot) or .MMM (Multimeter movie) files may not load, in particular if using the following selections for probe type: Ohms, DC Average, Volts AC RMS, Amps (internal)
  • Labscope Viewer: MODIS Multimeter snapshot files (.MMP extension) do not currently load in ShopStream Connect.
  • MODIS CF2 does not appear in ShopStream as a removable drive. Workaround: Place CF2 in a card reader and connect to PC, it will then be visible in ShopStream Connect..

Issues addressed in version 7.2.16.0 Update

  • Notes field not visible on some PCs: This issue appeared on some PCs which had different versions of Windows Installer MSI on the PC but has now been rectified.
  • Manual not printable: The PDF manual supplied with Release version 7.2.12.0 was not printable, and is now replaced with a printable version.
  • Scanner Data Viewer displaying incorrect units: Some MODIS Scanner movies were showing mismatched units and values for speed /distance values (e.g. showing KPH but indicating MPH). This is now rectified.
  • Shortcut added for PCLink users: A shortcut to the usual PCLink Data folder (default value: "C:\Fast-Track\My Data") has been added to the ShopStream folder to facilitate easier access.
  • PC Data Folder location: This has been changed from the root drive (default value "C:\") to the ShopStream folder in the user's personal folder directory (e.g. "C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\My Documents\ShopStream")
